FORMER SENATOR BOB DAY LAUNCHES SA ELECTION CAMPAIGN WITH MESSAGE OF HOPE AND RESILIENCE
There was a time when Australia was proudly known as “The Lucky Country.” Families could buy a home, find secure work, raise children in safe neighbourhoods, and enjoy the blessings of strong farming and thriving local communities. It felt as though the country truly had a bright future.
Today, many South Australians don’t feel so lucky anymore. Rising costs, fragile families, and communities under strain have left people wondering where the leaders with common sense and conviction have gone.
Launching the Australian Family Party’s South Australian Election Campaign, former Senator Bob Day spoke with honesty about his love for his country and state, and why he feels called to stand again: “I love my country, and I love my state. I want to see them flourish again. But looking to our current politicians and bureaucrats to solve our most pressing problems does not fill me with confidence. They are simply outdated, outgunned, and out of touch. We need common sense, fresh thinking, and the courage to defend our way of life.”
Bob’s story is one that many South Australians can relate to. A husband, father, grandfather, and business owner, he has experienced both success and hardship:
“I started with nothing but a pick and shovel and worked hard for 40 years to build a national business. I made good decisions, and I made mistakes too. Eventually, I took on a project that was too big and paid a heavy price. But I learned something important: you can’t let past mistakes define you. You have to get back in the truck and drive.”
It’s a message that resonates deeply with families who have faced their own struggles—whether illness, loss, broken relationships, or financial hardship. Bob Day knows what it means to be knocked down and to get back up again.
The Australian Family Party was formed to give families a voice. To push back against the radical influence of the Greens and the ongoing disappointments of the major parties. To protect what matters most: strong families, safe communities, meaningful work, and the values that hold society together.
“We all carry scars,” Day said. “But we also carry hope. And that hope is what drives me to stand once more—for my family, for your family, and for the future of South Australia.”
