Climate change is real. Renewable energy is not. Renewable energy ‘rent-seekers’ – definition of rent-seeker: ‘corporate parasites who manipulate the political process to extract money from taxpayers and consumers,’ have leapt onto the climate change bandwagon and are raking in billions of dollars gaming the system, raising energy prices, impoverishing consumers, destroying jobs, and fleecing taxpayers. Phrases like, ‘heavily subsidised renewables’ means taking money from low income people in the form of taxes, charges and higher electricity prices, and giving it to renewable energy companies.

Rent-seekers are a scourge. They tarnish the political process, distort the market and in the case of energy, distort the entire economy. No matter what industry you are in, that pay-rise you thought you deserved has gone into the pockets of rent-seekers lurking in the corridors of parliament house.

Renewable energy is probably the biggest scam the world has ever known. Most scams target naïve investors who, when they lose their money, have only themselves to blame. The renewable energy scam however has been perpetrated by governments with consumers and tax-payers forced to participate. The scam uses every trick in the book including fear – “the earth will become uninhabitable” and emotional blackmail – “think about your children’s and grandchildren’s future”. It is reprehensible.

An entire false economy has developed fuelled by taxpayer-funded Renewable Energy Targets, Emissions Trading Schemes, Emissions Reduction Funds, Renewable Energy Agencies, Climate Change Authorities, Climate Change departments and so on. Wind farms, solar farms, giant batteries, pumped hydro, clean hydrogen, green steel, carbon capture and storage, one day the whole racket will collapse and someone will write a book called ‘50 Years of Madness: How the World was Conned’.

The pain, the angst, the disruption, the cost associated with climate change can all be summarised in one word – emissions, CO2 emissions in particular. Emissions from power generation, emissions from transport and emissions from farming.

How a tiny, harmless natural part of the environment has been used to spook the masses and undermine our whole way of life is going to be a question for the ages.

CO2 is not a pollutant. It is not dirty, it is not harmful. CO2 levels in the atmosphere have risen but they are not harmful (to the climate), they are actually beneficial (to agriculture). [See link below: “The Defence of CO2”]. As Thomas Huxley, the famous biologist once said, “Many a beautiful theory was killed by an ugly fact”. Or from author Khaled Hosseini, “Better to be hurt with the truth than comforted with a lie”.

The science of climate change is nowhere near settled. For every scientist who says CO2 emissions are creating a climate emergency, there’s a scientist who says there isn’t. Just last year, more than 500 scientists wrote to the United Nations telling them there was no climate emergency. As the years go by and as all the predictions and forecasts and doomsday scenarios fail to materialise [See link below: “Wrong Again: 50 Years of Failed Eco-pocalyptic Predictions”], the science is establishing more and more that whatever climate change is occurring is well within the bounds of natural climate variation, and is in no way unusually warm, or cold.

There is no man-made climate crisis and yet we keep paying ridiculously high prices for electricity knowing high power prices kills people, particularly older people.

Even if emissions were a problem, which they are not, attempting to reduce them comes at a huge cost for absolutely no benefit. China, India and the developing world are certainly not reducing their emissions. Hundreds of new coal-fired power stations are either under construction or are being planned. The world is not walking away from coal. Or gas. Hundreds of new coal-fired power stations are being built all over the world. Demand for coal is rising, the price of coal is rising.

Here in Australia we have Greens Leader Adam Bandt calling for zero emissions by 2030. No coal, no gas, just 100% renewables. That is so idiotic it is hard to know what to say. This from the leader of a political party which has 10 members of parliament and has done a deal with the Coalition to get a few more. Bandt says unless we stop using coal or gas sea levels are going to rise two metres. Presumably he understands Australia is not going to stop exporting enough coal and gas to power over 100 power stations in other countries so how burning coal and gas in those countries is any different from burning it here he doesn’t explain.

If renewable energy is as cheap and as reliable as has been claimed, then it does not need legislation to prop it up. The Australian Family Party calls for all climate change and renewable energy legislation to be repealed.

Summary

The only rational approach to climate change if and when it occurs is to do what mankind has always done – adapt. If people can adapt and live comfortably in cities like Helsinki with temperatures of minus 5 degrees or Phoenix with temperatures of plus 35 degrees – a 40 degree difference, then we can adapt if temperatures do in fact increase by 1 or 2 degrees. In Australia, if the summers get hotter and increase the risk of bushfires, then we need to build more fire-breaks, be more vigilant in clearing undergrowth and have bigger and better equipped rural fire services. That would be a lot more effective than trying to change the weather.
